Juan Carlos Villa
Manager for Latin America, Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI)

For the past 16 years, Juan Carlos Villa has been a lead researcher on technology assisting with road transport at land border crossings, most recently working on innovative solutions to move freight transport into the fast lane at commercial land ports of entry (LPOEs) border crossings between Mexico and the United States. His research is now helping to reduce congestion by providing real-time information via travel-time reliability monitoring systems (TTRMS), including RFID Readers, which allow smarter scheduling decisions that minimise travel delays thereby benefiting all stakeholders involved while paving the way for technology that can be applied to land border crossings worldwide.
